It’s been AGES since I’ve posted.

I’ve been bsy… So bsy, I forgot “u”…

 Har, har…  Never said I was a comedian…

So, there is very little knitting content right now.  Not that I haven’t been knitting…I have.  I just don’t have the patience to take pics and post them right now.  I’d rather be..well, um…knitting.  Go figure.

Here’s what I’ve been working on…

Touch of Aran” pullover by Harrisville designs (horrid pic in a horrid color).  I’m using Galway in a soft heathered appley green…it’s a weird pic of the color, it’s not so sick-yellowy…it’s more sagey.  >shrug<  It’s a great color.  I love it.  I’ve just started the cable panel on the top back.

I’m also part of the International Scarf Exchange 5.  My pal and I had similar color/texture “likes” so I picked something that I would love to recieve and I hope she likes it.  I am using Jade Sapphire Silk Cashmere lace weight in the Pumpkin Spice colorway.  The stitch I’m using is from Barbara Walkers yellow book, pg 154, “Ivy Pattern”…  I am doing 3 repeats, with a seed stitch border, size 6 needles.  I am digging it.

Looky!!

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

I really like it and I hope my pal does too!!!

I’m also working on a pair of socks…just finished the toe (they are toe up), no stitch picked yet…   I’m using a Lucy Neatby yarn that I have had for a while….looks like a psychotic garden.  I’ll post a pic when I have some of the pattern done.  Just the toe is a little boring.

Haven’t been spinning at all…  Just haven’t wanted to put my knitting down long enough to actually spin.  >shrug<  I’ll pick it back up sooner or later.

Happy weekend, all!

Bathroom Woes

So…  A few months ago we were talking about moving out of our rented townhouse into a, hopefully, nicer rented townhouse.  Long story short, we decided to stay put and save money up for a house of our own.  Now…in order to keep me happy and keep my mouth closed, The Poet wisely agreed to let me paint and do some mild, non-permanent makeovers. We stared with the bathroom, nice small room.  It’s an easy space to “cut teeth” on, right??  Mm-hmm….nope.  Here’s a little back story…  Mold issues, water-base flat paint, saggy floor, so maintenance comes in and replaces the entire ceiling, the entire floor, and repaints the entire room.  Sounds nice huh??  Uh, no. Now, more back story… We started re-doing the bathroom by going out and buying a new shower curtain, new floor rug and new towels.  Bight polka dot curtain, bright orange rug, bright turquoise towels (I am not afraid of color).  The floor started out as pure white, tiny hex tiles (circa. 1945ish), went perfectly with the stuff we picked out.  I was going to paint the walls a bright-ish light olive green (to match one of the colors of the dots on the curtain) and do white trim.  It was going to be fun and bright and awesome.  Then they re-tiled the floor…with 2” square sand colored tile.  Sand = beige, which is NOT FRIENDS with bright orange…  Fantastically fun orange shag rug now looks like ASS against this new beige tile.  F&@K!!  So…now we have to re-do the re-do.  So I go buy paint…Now, onto the walls…A few prior residents back painted the room almost the exact shade of deep grayish aqua that I have now picked out (to go with the beige tile floor)… Problem is, when said prior resident painted, they painted directly over a semi-gloss paint, no priming, no sanding…nothing.  When they left, they painted all the walls with cheap white flat.  Maintenance, being the dumbasses they are, painted over it again before the next resident moved in.  Now, we have semi-gloss on top of un-primed semi-gloss with two coats of cheap ass plasticoat on top of those.  Can you say bubble and peel??  Yup, I sure can…and lots of it.  (we had thought that it was the lack of ventilation, we were wrong) So, before they slapped this newest coat of plasticoat down, they decided to use regular dry wall spackle to repair a few cracks and over the peeling paint…  Hmm…  *sigh*  Now we have spackle (which holds moisture like a freakin’ sponge) on top of peeling paint, which they then painted over.  *bigger sigh*  So the paint starts to peel again.  I mean, they painted in the morning, and by the time we got home from work there were huge paint blisters all over the walls.  F&@K!!  I said, no biggie (cuz I hadn’t figure all the above mess out yet), I’ll just scrap the blisters, sand them a little and paint the whole room the color I want.  Uh-uh.  The Poet comes home a little early and I ask him, ever so sweetly, to please scrap and sand the blister for me so I could paint when I got home.  He calls me about an hour later and says “Houston, we have a problem”.  This is when the whole layered mess was discovered.  He has scraped a little and then went to peel of one little edge and, quite literally, peeled off half a walls worth of paint, down past four layers to the original semi-gloss.  So… He is now upstairs peeling the entire room, scraping off all the dry wall spackle (we are going to use PLASTER to repair our plaster walls, smart huh!?)  So I can get in there and paint…at some point.  Me…I’m sewing a new shower curtain to go with the new paint to go with the new floor. And it’s just the first room.

Here’s a re-cap of my day….

Wake up, crampy, bloated, headachy and just plain bitchy.

Remove all the stuff from the bathroom, cuz the floor is being replaced over the next 2 days.

Go to work, get a phone call from the leasing office…dog is in basement, they need IN the basement….leave work, go home, play musical dog.

Return to work, get a phone call from my Mom, she’s talked to my Dad who’d told her that my Grandfather (my Dad’s Dad) has inoperable lung cancer.

Call my Grandfather in sheer panic and terror, find out it’s true.  Become a blubbering fool at work, leave early.

Can’t go home…a bunch of strangers at my house…go hang out at Cloverhill and buy a skein of silk/cashmere to make myself feel better.

Finally go home, house empty, toilet sitting inside the tub…can’t walk on bathroom floor, means no shower until, at the least, Friday night…and I have my period.  Yum.

Check my email to find out that Sister In Law was taken to the hospital for pre-eclampsia.  Now considered high risk and they may take the baby c-section as soon as her platelet (sp?) levels come back up.

Go to get Avery from work, car’s transmission take’s a shit about a mile away from home, walk home in 90 degree heat, mostly up hill, in heavy ass jeans and shoes that make my feet sweat….

Get home, almost pass out, swear to god that I’ll join the gym as long as I don’t puke.

Order pizza and blow two weeks worth of eating SO HEALTHY by eating the entire thing… (It was a large thin crust and Avery and I spilt it….  IT WAS GOOD…)  Nah!!

So…  No shower, dying grandfather, dangerously sick & pregnant SIL, dead car….

How was your day???

That’s how much sleep I’ve had.

I stayed up until 2am (then had trouble going to sleep) to finish reading the newest (and last *pout*) Harry Potter…

I’m too old for this shit.

No spoilers…so if you want to talk about the book, email me…

So, it’s laundry day

I’m on lunch break, munching on fresh veggies with pesto hummus and toasted pita wedges and iced peppermint tea.  Yummm-Oooo!!

I have been working on my MS3,  in between trips up and down the stairs (laundry room in basement, bedroom on 2nd floor…getting my exercise in, too!!  I’m multi-tasking!)  The stole is ’so far, so good’ at this point, about half way done with clue 1…  Yes, I’m still on the first clue (Melanie just released clue 4 yesterday).  What can I say??  I’ve changed my yarn a few times, had to frog a few times and I haven’t had tons of time to work on it.  IT SUCKS.  I spend each work day feeling like I am wasting time…I just want to go home and knit the damn stole!!!  lol  But at least I can still pay my bills.

Anyway.  It’s going pretty well right now.  No photo’s yet, I want to finish at least the first clue before taking some snaps of it.

That’s it… After the last post, I just wanted to say that today, I’m having a good lace knitting day.  (I whispered that last bit…I don’t want it to hear me and decide that it’s been good long enough.)

Happy Weekend, everyone!!

No, not really….

BUT…I have to frog my MS3 AGAIN…  For the 4,234,567th time.  I don’t know why I keep messing it up.  I am not even messing it up at the same point…it’s been a different point every time.

*sigh*

I think I may hate lace.  Or perhaps it’s just because I am moody and emotional and can’t think properly right now.  I think PMS is creeping up on me.  Egads!! I’m cranky and a messed up lace stole doesn’t make it any better.

Fah.

Nothing real to report.  Just wanted to bitch for a moment, that’s all.
Now back to your regularly scheduled knitting… (or if you’re like me, frogging)

First of all, HAPPY WEEKEND EVERYONE!!!!

I have been super busy.  I don’t even know with what….it’s that kind of busy.

I have been working on my Mystery Stole 3 (here on out: MS3) whenever I get a chance…  She just released Clue 3 yesterday and I haven’t finished Clue 1 yet!!  LOL  BUT, The Poet, is going to be gone with the car today and tomorrow (meaning my butt will stay home!) so I am hoping to accomplish three things this weekend.

#1.  Put a dent in the mountain of laundry I have to do.

#2.  Finish, at the very least, Clue 1 of the MS3 stole…hopefully more than that.

#3.  Spin something.  I haven’t spun since May….  EEeeeeppp!!!!  I don’t even care if it’s just one bobbin full….I NEED to SPIN something.

 Wish me luck!!  ;-)
Happy Stitches, all!
